Temple of Hathor at Dendera.

The Late Period 712 BC - 332 BC
The Late Period followed the chaos that divided Egypt once again after the New Kingdom Dynasties. Egypt was unified again under Nubian invaders who formed the Twenty-Sixth Dynasty to begin the Late Period. Egypt remained unified, but not ruled by Egyptians. The Temple of Hathor at Dendera, a powerful local Nome or city state, was built during this period. Persians invaded and conquered the Nubians and then came the Alexander Macedonians.

Third Intermediary Period (1550 BC - 1070 BC)

The Libians invaded and established a center of power at Thebes by using the Priests of Amum as a vehicle for ruling. They controled Lower Egypt.

Various rulers in the Nile Delta took the title of Pharaoh, but they did not rule both Upper and Lower Egypt. They ruled Upper Egypt from Tanis.
