Pyramid of Khafra (Chephren) at Giza.
The second largest pyramid at Giza
is the Pyramid of Khafra. Khafra had the Sphinx
carved in his likeness from the stone that was left in the quarry used
for his pyramid.
Khafra was the fourth king of the
Fourth Dynasty. He was the son of Khufu.
Pieces of the original
limestone casing of the pyramid remain at the top. This limestone
was stripped from the pyramids several hundred years ago to build the
city of Cairo.
